On February 1, 2026, Rev. Gordon Showell-Rogers, Director of Christian Daily International (CDI), was invited to deliver the sermon. Dover Immanuel Church held its Sunday worship service at the WEC Immanuel Chapel. Despite the cold winter morning, the congregation gathered with gratitude and reverence, rejoicing in the privilege of worshiping together before the Lord.

The sermon centered on how God touches the lives of His people by calling them into both a personal and communal relationship with Him as His children. Rev. Showell-Rogers emphasized that Christian faith is never individualistic or isolated, but is always formed within a community of faith rooted in God’s redemptive work throughout history. From the Old Testament to the New Testament, Scripture reveals one continuous story of God shaping a people who worship Him and bear witness to His grace.

Beginning with Genesis 12:1–3, Rev. Showell-Rogers highlighted God’s call to Abram. He explained that Abraham’s calling was both particular and universal. While God sovereignly chose Abraham, the purpose of that calling was to bless all the families of the earth. This foundational promise made clear that God’s plan was never confined to ethnicity or nationality, but was always intended to extend to all nations.

The sermon then turned to the Exodus narrative as a powerful testimony of both salvation and judgment. Referring to Exodus 12, Rev. Showell-Rogers explained that God redeemed His people through the blood of the lamb while executing judgment upon Egypt and its false gods. Scripture records that not only Israelites, but also people from other nations were redeemed and journeyed with them. God later commanded Israel to treat foreigners with justice and compassion, reminding them that they themselves had once been strangers. This demonstrated that God’s salvation and care extend beyond ethnic boundaries.

Another central theme of the message was God’s judgment upon nations, including His own people. Through passages such as 2 Kings 17, Rev. Showell-Rogers emphasized that Israel and Judah were judged for idolatry and disobedience just as other nations were. Privilege, he explained, does not remove accountability. God’s discipline reveals His holiness and justice, and when His people forgot His saving acts and turned to idols, they were scattered among the nations, becoming both recipients of judgment and witnesses in foreign lands.

Throughout the Old Testament, God’s work among the nations was also revealed through individuals outside Israel. The sermon highlighted figures such as Rahab, Naaman, Ruth, and Jonah, showing how God worked through unexpected people and places. These accounts testified that God’s grace was already active beyond Israel, preparing the way for the fuller revelation of salvation in Jesus Christ.

The Psalms and Solomon’s prayer further affirmed God’s global purpose. Passages such as Psalm 67 and Psalm 98 proclaim that God’s salvation and righteousness are made known among all nations so that the whole earth may praise Him. In 1 Kings 8, Solomon prayed that even foreigners who came seeking the Lord would know God’s name and glory. These Scriptures revealed that God’s presence and His temple were never meant to be exclusive, but to serve as a testimony to all peoples.

Moving into the New Testament, Rev. Showell-Rogers reminded the congregation that justification comes through faith, and that those who belong to Christ are counted as Abraham’s descendants. In Christ, ethnic, social, and cultural divisions no longer define God’s people. Instead, faith unites believers into one community, called to reflect Christ’s character and live transformed lives before the world.

The message concluded with a vision from Revelation 21, where John describes the new heaven and the new earth. Rev. Showell-Rogers shared that in the New Jerusalem, people from every nation bring their glory into God’s city, purified and redeemed. Cultures once marked by sin are cleansed and gathered together to worship God. This final vision affirmed that God’s plan from the beginning has been to form a global people who reflect His glory and proclaim His story.

The sermon concluded with a prayerful call for the church to live out this mission today—to be a community of faith that worships God, bears witness to His work, and faithfully tells His story to a world in need, trusting that God will continue to use His people to bless the nations.

On November 26, 2025, on Thanksgiving Eve, Rev. Dr. Anton Tarigan gave a special lecture at WEC Immanuel Chapel. Rev. Tarigan is a prominent evangelical leader from Indonesia whose ministry spans pastoral leadership, national movements, and global evangelical collaboration. He is the Founder and Senior Pastor of the Tower of Praise Church, where he has served since establishing the church in 2003. Since 2015, he has also served as a Board Member of the Fellowship of Indonesia Evangelical Church, contributing to the strengthening and coordination of evangelical ministries, along with various other leadership roles.

Rev. Tarigan shared his testimony with warmth and humor. He grew up in a Muslim family and came to know Jesus at the age of thirty. He reflected that if he had known the Lord earlier, he could have done more for God’s kingdom. He encouraged young people to cherish the time they have and use it to serve the Lord faithfully. “Seeing you young people today fills me with admiration,” he said, “you have the opportunity to do great things for Jesus.”

The sermon focused on 1 Thessalonians 5:18: “In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” Rev. Tarigan emphasized three key principles for living a life with an attitude of gratitude.

First, God gives us the ability to be thankful in all circumstances. No matter the challenges or weaknesses we face, God equips us with the strength to stand firm and courageous in any situation. Even young people, who may lack experience or be underestimated, are empowered by God to bear life’s responsibilities.

Second, everything we experience is part of God’s good purpose. We have no reason to complain; instead, we should cultivate a grateful heart. Rev. Tarigan illustrated this by comparing God’s guidance to parental discipline: even if we do not like it at first, it is ultimately for our benefit. Through this, we understand that God’s plans are always good, faithful, and trustworthy.

Third, we should remain humble and obedient. Life may have ups and downs, but we should not complain. God is always good and deserving of our trust and worship, in every season.

To illustrate gratitude, Rev. Tarigan shared a story about a farmer who diligently went to the market to provide for his family but had a bad experience on one rainy day, where his bike slipped on mud and his bananas were ruined. He initially complained and felt disappointed. Later, he learned that the bus he regularly boarded had an accident that same morning, leaving no survivors. Only then did he realize the accident had protected him. Later, a newcomer to the village sought the spoiled bananas for livestock, allowing the farmer to benefit from what he initially saw as loss, which also reminded the farmer that God provides even in unexpected ways. Rev. Tarigan highlighted that this story shows gratitude is not just for favorable circumstances, but also in life’s challenges.

Rev. Tarigan also shared five practical ways to cultivate a heart of gratitude:

1: Avoid comparing yourself with others, for God created each of us uniquely.

2: Focus on what you have, rather than what you lack.

3: Submit to God’s will instead of insisting that He follow our plans.

4: Find true satisfaction in Christ, recognizing that the most valuable gift we have is Jesus Himself.

5: Focus on eternal life and live as citizens of God’s kingdom, understanding that gratitude is not limited to earthly blessings.

He reminded congregations to seek spiritual fulfillment rather than just satisfying bodily desires, quoting Philippians 3:8: “I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.” True gratitude comes from knowing Jesus as the center of our lives, acknowledging His sacrifice for us, and embracing the hope of eternal life.

Finally, Rev. Tarigan led the congregation in prayer, asking God to cultivate genuine gratitude in their hearts. He encouraged them to be thankful not only in favorable circumstances but also in trials, trusting in God’s goodness at all times. The service concluded in an atmosphere of heartfelt worship and reflection, leaving the congregation inspired to live lives of sincere gratitude.

On November 17, 2025, representatives from Heroes of the Nation (HTN) visited the World Evangelical Center (WEC), sharing their mission experiences across Africa and exploring opportunities for broader collaborative impact. HTN, which has long been active in Kenya, continues to work directly in communities facing significant social and economic challenges. Their initiatives include food distribution, sustainable farming projects, educational support for children, and programs that help families and villages transition from short-term crisis to long-term stability. These efforts have produced measurable improvements in the regions they serve.

During the fellowship, WEC General Secretary Pastor Marian Rebro presented the ongoing work and vision of WEC, emphasizing its commitment to raising globally minded Christian leaders equipped to serve churches, ministries, and organizations with clarity, maturity, and a strong sense of mission.

Both organizations now look toward continued dialogue and meaningful collaboration, unified by a shared commitment to expanding global impact and strengthening communities around the world.

On August 22, the World Evangelical Center (WEC) hosted Swinging with Spirit 2025, an annual youth golf event, at Harlem Valley Golf Club. Initiated last year, this event has now entered its second year, becoming a growing annual tradition shared between WEC, the town of Poughkeepsie, and the local Dover town community.

Nearly 100 people participated, including youth players, young professional golf mentors, town leadership committee members, volunteers, and visitors.

The day began with registration, followed by an opening prayer from WEC General Secretary, Pastor Marian Rebro, who also gave a brief introduction about WEC and the vision behind the tournament. The program then continued with remarks from Former County Executive Bill O’Neal, a core committee member of the event; New York State Assemblyman Anil Beephan, Jr., representing the 105th Assembly District; Glenn Marchi, Commissioner and Chief Information Officer of Orange County, also a core committee member; and Pat Sullivan, a PGA Golf Professional who played a key role in recruiting the young professional golf mentors.

The morning session featured group lessons divided into three parts: swinging, chipping, and putting. With three PGA golf professionals and sixteen young professional mentors present, this year’s system of training was noticeably more structured and effective. Children learned in small groups and through some individual coaching, enjoying hands-on instruction in the basics of the game.

In the afternoon, participants engaged in a scramble-format tournament, designed to make the game more enjoyable and less intimidating for first-time learners. With over a dozen golf carts dedicated to the event, the tournament ran smoothly and allowed everyone to focus on the fun of the game.

Adding a deeper spiritual dimension, each hole was marked with a Bible verse sign. This allowed mentors to briefly share gospel-centered lessons with their young teams, planting seeds of faith and offering opportunities for the next generation to hear about Jesus Christ.

WEC leadership gives thanks to the Lord for granting a day filled with grace—from the beautiful weather, to the smooth preparation and operation, and the blessed fellowship at every step. This event held special meaning in working closely with town leadership, deepening relationships not only as partners in community service but also as friends in Christ.

Christian Daily International’s (CDI) International Director Rev. Gordon Showell-Rogers, together with Latin America Editor Javier Bolaños and his wife Laura Bolaños, visited the World Evangelical Center (WEC) for a staff workshop and leadership fellowship. They were joined by WEC Chief Communication Officer Pastor Timothy Goropevsek, who also serves as Executive Editor of CDI.

During their time at WEC, General Secretary Marian Rebro welcomed the guests and introduced the broader vision of the organization, including updates on the ongoing development of the campus. A key announcement was the designation of the Media & Information Center (MIC) as the new headquarters for CDI, marking a step forward in the partnership between the two ministries.

While visiting WEC for a series of meetings, Rev. Gordon Showell-Rogers was also invited to preach at Immanuel Chapel in Dover for its Pentecost Sunday service. He delivered a message from the book of Jonah, reflecting on God’s mercy, second chances, and the call to obedience.

The visit served as a meaningful time of renewed connection and shared reflection for both teams, strengthening their partnership as they continue their distinct yet united efforts in service to the global church.

On March 25-26, Pastor Mark Spisak, former General Secretary of the World Evangelical Center (WEC), and Pastor Timothy Goropevsek, Chief Communication Officer of WEC, attended the ‘CEO & Ministry Leaders Gathering’ organized by the Galilean Movement for North America. The event, hosted at Regent University and the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) in Virginia Beach, Virginia, brought together key Christian leaders to discuss discipleship and evangelism as part of fulfilling the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20).

Over two days, participants engaged in strategic discussions on advancing the gospel, sharing best practices in disciple-making, and strengthening mission efforts worldwide. The gathering also provided an opportunity for building new relationships and reinforcing existing partnerships with Christian leaders and institutions committed to expanding God’s kingdom.

Before departing, WEC leaders toured Regent University, learning about its history and academic initiatives supporting Christian leadership development. Reflecting on the event, Pastor Mark Spisak shared, “This was a valuable opportunity to connect with global evangelical leaders and strengthen strategic partnerships. These relationships are essential as we work together to advance God’s kingdom and fulfill the Great Commission.”

Through these engagements, WEC continues to expand its collaborative efforts, reinforcing its commitment to global mission and evangelism.

On a recent July Saturday, the World Evangelical Center (WEC) hosted the first annual youth golf event called “Swinging with Spirit” on its Harlem Valley Golf Course. The aim of the event was to provide an opportunity for children and youth from Poughkeepsie and the local Dover town community to learn how to play golf, while also introducing attributes and values that reflect those that the Bible teaches, such as truthfulness, integrity and loyalty.

After participants enjoyed breakfast, Pastor Mark Spisak, WEC General Secretary, extended a warm welcome to all and opened the event in prayer.

Former Dutchess County Executive William F.X. O’Neil, a devout Christian and passionate golfer, then shared his greetings and explained how Swinging with Spirit came about. He recounted how several Christian leaders from various walks of life came together with a vision to do something for children and youth in the community. They desired to use golf to teach principles of life that are embedded in both the game and the Bible.

Participants then learned the basic skills in three different golf clinics focused on driving, chipping and putting. Three groups took turns as experienced golfers showed them the techniques for each skill and the respective golf clubs.

After the morning session, everyone enjoyed lunch fellowship, which was followed by a scramble golf tournament in the afternoon.

Nine teams, each led by their captains, started at different holes and competed for the best scores. Each of the holes featured a Bible verse, which encouraged the team’s captain to share a brief word of wisdom or teaching from the Word of God.

The event then concluded with an award ceremony recognizing the three best teams as well as two individual disciplines: the longest drive and the closest to the pin, which each getting a trophy. It served as an encouragement to the participants to keep practicing in the future.

“We were very encouraged by the joy that the event brough to the children and youth who participated in the event, and that they learned not only about golf but also about the Bible and principles of life,” Spisak said after the event.

“We’re very thankful to the many people who made this first Swinging with Spirit possible, especially Bill O’Neil who envisioned the event and brought together a group of people who are committed to serving the youth in our county,” he said.

He also recognized Mental Health of America of Dutchess County, the Recreation Department from Town of Dover, Olivet Academy and Esperanza church in Poughkeepsie as key partners, and thanked Robert Ranieri and David Petrovits for their support as sponsors.

“We hope that ‘Swinging with Spirit’ can become an annual event. It is one way how we wish to contribute to the local community in beautiful Dutchess County, and we are glad we could provide kids from diverse backgrounds with an opportunity to be introduced to golf,” Spisak said.

A team from the World Evangelical Center (WEC) and partner ministries participated in the annual Dover Clean-Up Day, joining forces with a few dozen other volunteers from the local community. Walking along New York State Routes 22 and 55, they picked up litter from the sides of the road and contribute to a cleaner and more beautiful town.

“I’m truly thankful that we could again participate in the Dover cleanup day and do something good for the local community. It is always a good experience to connect with others and together serve in this small but meaningful way to make the environment in our town cleaner,” said Rev. Mark Spisak from WEC.

“The Lord Jesus Christ cleaned our hearts through his sacrifice. So as a small practical expression of our gratitude, we as his disciples wish to clean the environment where the Lord has placed us.”

Several representatives from the World Evangelical Center (WEC) attended the 11th annual Dutchess County Prayer Breakfast on May 7th at Grandview in Poughkeepsie, New York. The event was hosted by Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino and gathered over 400 participants from various spheres of society in unity to pray for Dutchess County, its officials, and leaders.

Among the attendees were church leaders, representatives from various organizations, elected officials as well as lay people who wish to simply pray for the county and its leaders.

The Bible verse selected for this year’s Prayer Breakfast was taken from Ephesians 6:18: “Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion.”

During the gathering, speakers shared Bible readings from the Old and New Testaments, personal testimonies of fulfilled prayer but also the struggle that Christian professionals face in an increasingly secular society in America. Testimonies and encouragement to live out the faith in Christ touched the hearts of the audience, emphasizing the need for and power of prayer.

“Participating in the Dutchess County Prayer Breakfast again this year has been a truly blessed experience. We have a great community of Christians who serve the public and the community, and that’s why we have spiritual protection in our beautiful country,” said Rev. Mark Spisak, WEC General Secretary.

“The annual event always reminds about the passage in Paul’s first letter to Timothy, where he writes: I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people — for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. (1 Timothy 2:1-2)”

“Prayer has the power to unite brothers and sisters in Christ, and as we pray, the Holy Spirit intervenes in our lives and in our community. May we continue to pray with faith, hope and gratitude,” he said.
